Chery Aids Putra Heights Fire Victims With Car Loan Program

50 cars have been made available by Chery Malaysia for loan to the victims of this recent blaze.
The recent gas inferno in Putra Heights has unfortunately turned what should have been a joyous Hari Raya celebration into a nightmare for many. And while the government and Petronas have since stepped in with aid and compensation for its victims, one automaker has also gone the extra mile with a truly impactful gesture to help those affected too.
Chery Corporate Malaysia has recently announced a vehicle loan programme, reinforcing its commitment to community welfare beyond just automotive safety. Through this initiative, 50 vehicles will be temporarily provided to displaced families, ensuring they have access to essential transportation during this difficult period. This move aligns with Chery’s broader corporate responsibility ethos, proving that the brand stands by its customers when it truly matters.
To ensure the programme reaches those who need it most, Chery Corporate Malaysia is working closely with key government authorities, including the offices of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor State Exco for Investment, Trade, and Mobility YB Ng Sze Han, and various local agencies overseeing relief efforts. The programme will run for a designated period, allowing affected families the time and flexibility needed to arrange permanent transportation solutions.
Selangor executive councillor Ng Sze Han highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, “We understand that many need to go to work. Some of them have to send their children to school. So Chery is lending 50 cars,” he said, adding that the fire has impacted over 100 families. And if you are among those affected, click here to apply.
This initiative by Chery deserves recognition, as it reflects a genuine commitment to social responsibility beyond just selling cars. However, it also raises an important question—why have other automakers not stepped up in a similar fashion?
