BMW introduces the new BMW X3 and BMW X4 in Malaysia

BMW Malaysia has just launched the ‘Life Cycle Impulse’ facelifted models of the BMW X3 and X4 in Malaysia. The new X3 will be available in three variants, including a plug-in hybrid alongside one new variant for the X4. All these new models are locally assembled.

The three variants of the new BMW X3 include:

  • BMW X3 sDrive20i M Sport, priced at RM315,800
  • BMW X3 xDrive30i M Sport, priced at RM358,800
  • BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport, priced at RM356,800

BMW X3

The X3 sDrive20i and the X3 xDrive30i are both powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that outputs 184hp and 300Nm of torque and 252hp and 350Nm respectively. Both models are offered 8-speed transmissions with the X3 sDrive20i offering an 8-speed Automatic Steptonic with Automatic Hold function, while the X3 xDrive30i has an 8-speed Steptonic Sport transmission.

Meanwhile, the PHEV variant, the X3 xDrive30e powers its own internal combustion engine (ICE) with a powerful electric motor and battery with a capacity of 12kWh. It delivers a range of up to 50 kilometers (WLTP) in all-electric mode.

In terms of the new X4, it only comes in one variant, the BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport. It bears the same 2.0 liter engine as the X3 xDrive30i variant mated with an 8-speed conventional automatic transmission. One feature exclusive to the new X4 is its adaptive suspension.

The visual appearances of all the new BMW models have also seen an upgrade with larger kidney grilles, a new front apron and bumper designs and slimmer headlights with full-LED technology as standard.

All the variants will have the M Sport Package available as standard. It includes larger air intakes, specific front aprons, new color offerings, rims and interior trim finishers.

Inside, the new BMW X3 and X4 share the same 10.25-inch touchscreen control display which enjoy the features of the new BMW Operating System 7, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant for voice commands and BMW Maps, a cloud-based navigation system. The premium quality of the interior is also displayed by the sport seats with pronounced side bolsters with leather upholstery and zinc plated air vents.

Driving assistance systems in the BMW X3 and BMW X4 include Lane Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Parking Assistant and Reversing Assistant. The PHEV variant for the X3 is equipped with exclusive features like the Parking Assistant Plus with Park Assist for easier parking and automatic exiting, and the Active Park Distance Control with the lateral parking aid.

The new X3 variants are available in Alpine White, Brooklyn Grey, Phytonic Blue or Carbon Black. The new X4 variants are available in Alpine White, Piemont Red, Phytonic Blue and Carbon Black. All variants are complemented with Leather Vernasca Black with stitching. Owners can opt for different interior and exterior options as well.
