BYD Sime Motors has opened a new 3S Centre in Miri, expanding its sales and aftersales network in Sarawak. The facility is the largest BYD 3S Centre in the state and adds more service capacity for customers in northern Sarawak.
The centre covers 12,228 sq ft, with a showroom and service facility under one roof. Its 5,838 sq ft showroom can display five vehicles, while the 6,390 sq ft service centre has six service bays. The workshop can handle up to 35 vehicles a day.
Customers can also use the centre’s lounge, bar counter, discussion room and dedicated vehicle delivery bay. EV charging facilities are available for BYD sales and service customers.
Kah Progression Auto Sdn. Bhd. operates the new facility with a team of 15 employees across sales and aftersales operations. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oriental Holdings Berhad, which has more than 60 years of automotive industry experience across Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
The partnership with BYD Sime Motors marks Kah Progression Auto’s expansion into the electric vehicle segment. Its existing automotive experience and local market knowledge will support the centre’s operations in Miri.
Roadshow to Mark Opening
To celebrate the opening, Kah Progression Auto will hold a BYD roadshow at Bintang Megamall in Miri from 16 to 18 October 2026. The event will take place at the Ground Floor East Court in the mall’s Old Wing, running daily from 10am to 10pm.
The roadshow aims to introduce BYD’s vehicles to more local customers and bring the brand closer to the community.
Expanding Across East Malaysia
The Miri opening forms part of BYD Sime Motors’ wider expansion across East Malaysia. The company opened East Malaysia’s first BYD 3S Centre in Kota Kinabalu in December 2024, providing customers in Sabah with a dedicated sales and aftersales hub.
In Sarawak, BYD Sime Motors now operates three authorised outlets in Kuching, Sibu and Miri. The new Miri facility adds service capacity to this network and gives customers in the northern part of the state a dedicated location for vehicle maintenance and support.
As BYD Sime Motors expands its presence in Sabah and Sarawak, the company continues to develop its local sales and aftersales network. The Miri centre strengthens that coverage by bringing vehicle sales, servicing and spare parts support together in one location.
