PROTON X50 Sport Edition Opens For Bookings To Mark Six Years In Malaysia

PROTON has opened bookings for the All-New PROTON X50 Sport Edition (SE), introduced to mark six years since the X50 was launched in Malaysia.

Based on the flagship X50 variant, the Sport Edition receives 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements aimed at giving the B-segment SUV a sportier appearance while retaining its existing performance, technology and safety features.

The PROTON X50 was first introduced in Malaysia on 27 October 2020 and has since recorded more than 177,000 units in cumulative sales across domestic and export markets. It has also remained Malaysia’s best-selling B-segment SUV for five consecutive years.

For the Sport Edition, the exterior gets a predominantly black treatment with red accents. The changes include a Black Front Upper Garnish, Black Front Side Port Trim Garnish, Black Lower Bumper Garnish and Black Rear Side Port Trim Garnish.

The SUV also gets black 18-inch alloy wheels, dedicated front, side and rear skirtings, as well as a Sport Edition emblem to distinguish the variant from the standard X50 lineup.

The interior follows the same theme with a black cabin and red stitching on the steering wheel and seats. The front seats receive Sport Edition embroidery, while Sport Edition detailing is also added to the floor. TPE floor mats are included as well, with PROTON highlighting their lightweight, flexible and quick-drying properties for Malaysia’s rainy and humid climate.

The additional components have undergone more than 13,700 hours of testing covering durability, corrosion resistance, UV resistance and suitability for Malaysia’s tropical conditions.

Underneath the styling changes, the X50 SE retains the flagship variant’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged i-GT engine paired with a seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. The powertrain produces 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.1 litres per 100 km.

The Sport Edition also retains the X50’s 14.6-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, PROTON Link 2.0 and ‘Hi PROTON’ voice commands in Bahasa Melayu and English.

Safety equipment includes 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, along with features such as Auto Park Assist and a 360-degree HD Camera with 180-degree Transparent View.

Bookings for the All-New PROTON X50 Sport Edition are now open at authorised PROTON dealers nationwide.
