Syarikat Jasa Selamat Sdn Bhd has expanded its commercial vehicle fleet with 22 new Scania Super G460 cement tanker trucks, adding more heavy-duty vehicles to support its growing operations.
The new trucks were officially handed over to the company, with Yew Choo Kein, Managing Director of Syarikat Jasa Selamat, receiving the key from Joyce Antar, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia.
The Scania Super G460 is powered by a heavy-duty engine designed to deliver strong pulling power while keeping fuel consumption under control. The truck produces 2,500 Nm of torque at just 900 rpm, which Scania says gives it the highest torque at the lowest engine speed in its segment.
This focus on low-RPM torque is particularly useful for applications such as cement transportation, where trucks can spend long periods carrying heavy loads. Scania says the Super G460 can provide fuel savings of up to 8% without compromising performance or reliability.
Safety is another major part of the new fleet. The trucks come fitted with side curtain airbags and a steering wheel airbag, while the Electronic Brake System (EBS) works together with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Traction Control (TC) to help provide additional control and stability on the road.
With 22 new trucks joining the fleet, managing the vehicles efficiently will also be important for Syarikat Jasa Selamat. As part of the purchase, the company is getting Scania’s Fleet Management System Control Package, which provides access to fleet data through the My Scania portal and Scania Fleet app.
The system allows the company to monitor several aspects of its operations, including real-time vehicle positioning, vehicle performance, service planning and defect reporting. It can also provide environmental data for tracking carbon dioxide emissions, as well as information that can be used to evaluate driver performance.
For the drivers themselves, the Scania Driver app provides access to the My Scania digital ecosystem. Among other functions, drivers can complete pre-departure checks, view vehicle information, keep track of driving time and performance, check service bookings and find the nearest Scania workshop.
The package is intended to give Syarikat Jasa Selamat better visibility over its growing fleet, allowing the company to identify areas for improvement and make more informed decisions about day-to-day operations.
The company is also supported by Scania Financial Services, which provides financial solutions designed to help manage the investment in the new trucks while Syarikat Jasa Selamat continues to expand its operations.
With the addition of the 22 Super G460 cement tankers, Syarikat Jasa Selamat now has a larger fleet to support its business, while gaining access to Scania’s safety, fleet management and connected vehicle technology.
