Updated GWM Ora Good Cat Brings With It A New Sporty GT Spec

Prices for the updated GWM Ora Good Cat Ultra and GT are RM 109,800 and RM 119,800 respectively.

One of the pioneer EVs in Malaysia has just received an update, with GWM Malaysia recently announcing a refreshed version of the Ora Good Cat. And the big news with this admittedly Beetle-esque EV is that it isn’t just returning in its regular form, as a sportier GT variant has also now joined the lineup.

Now just to be clear at the start here, this updated Good Cat isn’t actually the facelift that was unveiled in China back in June. That said, this version does feature the minor updates introduced when the model transitioned to CKD local assembly in Thailand last year.

As this is only a mild update, there isn’t much changed on the exterior of the standard Ultra variant, apart from the addition of a new So Blue colour option paired with a black roof. The sportier GT trim however brings with it a handful of more aggressive aesthetic add-ons, including a large roof spoiler, faux carbon fibre body cladding, 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels, and yellow exterior accents for a touch of flair.

Powering the Good Cat Ultra is a front-mounted motor that delivers 143 hp and 210 Nm of torque, while the GT gets a slightly spicier setup with 171 hp and 250 Nm. GWM has yet to provide a 0–100 km/h figure for either variant, though both are electronically limited to a top speed of 150 km/h.

Under the floor now of both Good Cats sits a single 57.7 kWh LFP battery pack, which replaces the previous 47.79 kWh LFP and 63.14 kWh NMC options. Range is rated at 480 km on the NEDC cycle for the Ultra, while the more powerful GT achieves a slightly lower 460 km on a full charge.

Charging rates are identical across both the Ultra and GT, with 6.6 kW AC charging set to take approximately nine hours to fully charge the car. With DC charging at 60 kW meanwhile, this enables a 0-80% top-up in 54 minutes or 30-80% in 38 minutes.

Moving along inside, the Good Cat cabins now features a revised centre console that replaces the previous rotary gear selector with a column-mounted stalk. Standard kit includes a 7-inch multi-info display, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, a panoramic sunroof, a 50 W wireless charging tray and massaging seats (driver only on the Ultra; driver and front passenger on the GT).

Matching its fashionable exterior, the standard Good Cat’s synthetic leather upholstery is offered in three colour combinations depending on exterior paint: green/rice for Pistachio Green, brown/rice for Hazel Wood Beige, and green/grey for So Blue. The GT spec meanwhile features black and yellow suede leather upholstery, semi-bucket seats, and a powered tailgate.

On the safety front, both variants come equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite, which includes the usual array of active driver aids. Also standard are a 360° camera with transparent chassis view and six airbags.

One other cool new feature GWM wishes to tout is for the Ora Good Cats to now supports smartphone connectivity, via the new My GWM app. This enables remote control of the car’s seat ventilation, power windows, sunroof, and includes safety features like geo-fencing and location tracking.

Prices for the GWM Ora Good Cat start at RM 109,800 for the Ultra, with the GT spec commanding a RM 10,000 premium. Both are covered by a six-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/180,000 km battery warranty.

To sweeten the deal, GWM Malaysia is currently offering a RM 3,000 early-bird discount for units registered before 31st December 2025, bringing the Good Cat Ultra’s price down to RM 106,800, while the Good Cat GT goes for RM 116,800 during the promotional period.
