Over 1,000 Malaysians Have Already Ordered A Mitsubishi Xforce

Strong early demand sees Mitsubishi extend its RM 5,000 early bird rebate to the next 1,000 Xforce buyers.

While many may have initially dismissed the Mitsubishi Xforce against the swelling tide of compelling Chinese alternatives, some may now be reconsidering that stance. Such is because the tri-diamond brand has announced that it has already secured over 1,000 bookings for its upcoming small SUV, and this comes just barely a week after order books opened.

Buoyed by the encouraging response, Mitsubishi has thus elected to extend its early bird RM 5,000 rebate to the next 1,000 customers, meaning the first 2,000 buyers will now enjoy the incentive. Estimated pricing was initially pegged at RM 110,000 for the Urban and RM 120,000 for the Ultimate variants, with this current promotion now meaning that this locally assembled crossover could now be yours for a much more attractive RM 105,000 and RM 115,000 respectively.

“We are truly grateful for the tremendous response to the Mitsubishi Xforce. Achieving over 1,000 bookings within just one week is a strong testament to the confidence Malaysians have in our brand and in this exciting new SUV,” said Takashi Sakamaki, CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Malaysia (MMM). He added that the extension of the early bird package was meant as a gesture of appreciation, while also highlighting the brand’s readiness to support customers through its nationwide dealer network.

Set for an official launch this April, the Xforce is actually a fairly substantial entrant in the B-segment SUV space. Measuring 4,390 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall with a 2,650 mm wheelbase, it is marginally larger than rivals such as the Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross and Proton X50.

Under the bonnet of the Xforce lies a familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MIVEC four-cylinder engine shared with the Mitsubishi Xpander, with which it incidentally also shares its platform. Outputs mirror the people mover’s 105 PS and 141 Nm, though the SUV differs by pairing this engine with a CVT gearbox that drives the front wheels, rather than a four-speed automatic.

Visually, this successor to the ASX continues Mitsubishi’s muscular and upright design language. The front fascia adopts the latest iteration of the brand’s Dynamic Shield motif, framed by distinctive horizontal T-shaped LED headlights. This lighting signature carries through to the rear, while a floating roof treatment and pronounced wheel arches frame the standard 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels fitted to both variants.

The Ultimate variant can be identified by its “XFORCE” wordmark on its bonnet, not to mention a subtle spoiler on its tailgate. It also gains a powered version of said tailgate with a hands-free kick sensor, revealing a 410-litre boot.

Inside, the Urban spec of Xforce comes equipped with a 4.2-inch TFT display, an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, anti-heat leatherette seats, a six-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control, a chilled centre console, front DVR and rear seats with eight-step recline.

Stepping up to the Ultimate variant in turn adds an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless smartphone connectivity. Additional features for the flagship spec include nanoe X air purification, wireless charging, blue ambient lighting, an auto-dimming mirror and an extra rear DVR. A Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium audio system from Yamaha is also to be included, alongside a lighter White Mélange dashboard finish with Mocha seat accents in place of the Urban’s all-black interior.
