Toyota Bring The Sedans Malaysia Have Been Waiting For

UMW Toyota Motor today announced the outline of the concept cars and brand new executive sedan and compact sedan at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018.

The All-new Toyota Vios is previewed for the first time in the country at KLIMS 2018. With best in class safety features, the All-New Toyota Vios received a full 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating.

The Vios has a 2NR-FE 1.5-litre 4-cylinder 16-valve, DOHC engine with Dual VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) for high output and high efficiency. Maximum output is 79 kW/107 PS at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm.

Automatic transmission uses a 7-speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic. This transmission is a CVT type which has been tuned to have a feel like a conventional automatic transmission. Manual selection of gear is also possible by using the + or – positions located at gear shift. Paddle shifters are a new feature added to the Vios 1.5G to give a sportier driving feel.

The continuity between the sharp headlamps and radiator grille creates an innovative keen look, while the outer portions of the lower bumper give the front a ‘catamaran’ look. Through the use of different colours for various elements, there is differentiation of each variant.

Viewed from the rear, the character lines flow from the side while the combination lamps wrap around to express an emotional design. Thin rear combination lamps visually emphasise width while, further down, thick rear bumper expresses sportiness.

The headlamps (projector halogen for the G variant) are supplemented by LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) which increase visibility of the car at all times of the day, enhancing safety. Foglamps are fitted to the Vios 1.5G and 1.5E while long-lasting LEDs are now used for the rear combination units of these two variants as well.

Newly available for all variants is the Follow-Me-Home feature which keeps the headlamps on for around 30 seconds after the engine has been switched off. This provides illumination ahead of the car for additional peace of mind when walking away.

With this update, the Vios 1.5G now has larger 16-inch alloy wheels. These feature stepped spokes and machined details for a dynamic, cutting-edge look. A 16-inch rim is also provided for the spare wheel in the boot; in the event that a puncture requires use of the spare wheel, the appearance of the car will remain the same.

Customers who want a sportier look can also add a new Aerokit specially developed for the Vios. The Aerokit consists of a front spoiler, rear spoiler, side skirts and bootlid spoiler.

The Vios 1.5G and 1.5E get a new DVD-AVX infotainment system with a 6.8-inch display panel. This new system developed for Toyota models can be linked to compatible smartphones using the USB mirroring feature. This enables the driver to use smartphone favourite apps such as Spotify or Waze directly from the head unit. As with most other infotainment systems, Bluetooth connectivity also allows hands free phone operation. This new DVD-AVX is able to support up to 5 phones for music streaming.

The display panel also shows the image from the rear view camera and to assist manoeuvring for more precise positioning in a parking bay, there are guidance lines on the display. The camera has a wide angle of view and captures clear imagery even in poor lighting conditions.

For added comfort and convenience, a new console box with 30% more volume and an armrest is now fitted between the front seats. The console box’s lid is finished with leather / fabric material that can serve as an extra armrest to the driver for more comfort. Additionally, there is a slot to hold a smartphone and two USB points at the rear of the console box for passengers to use. Many storage spaces are provided around the cabin for front and rear occupants to keep drink containers or other small items.

The Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) is Toyota’s new development concept, designed to deliver ever better cars that offers the latest in drive engagement and more freedom for design. It is the dawn of a new generation of Toyotas.

Toyota Gazoo Racing involvement by UMWT are through the Vios Challenge and TGR Racing Festival which is now in second season. On display is the new Vios Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) concept combines the newly revealed Vios in TGR colors and dynamic bodykit to showcase the sporty character of the all-new Toyota Vios.

Built on the TNGA platform, the All-New Toyota Camry is all about the harmonious merger of Agility, Visibility and Stability. The futuristic design provides optimal weight balance and a lower centre of gravity for unparalleled responsive handling, even at high speeds.

The double wishbone rear suspension allows for exceptional manoeuvrability while maintaining peak riding comfort. The tougher vehicle body and other world-class features provide peace of mind so that the only focus is the pleasure of driving.

The executive sedan also comes with impressive Toyota Safety Sense features such as Pre-collision System, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) as well as Automatic High Beam (AHB).
