Stellantis’ New Malaysian Parts Hub Receives 1st Stock Shipment
This new parts hub of Stellantis in Malaysia is set to serve the Indian and Asian Pacific region.
Stellantis has recently announced that it has reached a key milestone with its India & Asia Pacific Regional Parts Hub in Malaysia, as the first batch of stock has since made its way into the facility. This apparently marks the initial phase of a €10 million (RM 46.5 million) total shipment, with €8 million (RM 37 million) worth of stock currently in transit from North America, France, Italy, and China, comprising 35,000 SKUs.
Situated in an as yet undisclosed free trade zone, this Regional Parts Hub is set to begin operation in the coming month or two. This facility is said to cater to all brands under Stellantis’ large umbrella, including Peugeot, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, RAM, Leapmotor and more.
The 4th largest automaker in the world currently has touted that this Regional Parts Hub will support its operations across 20 countries in the India and Asia Pacific region. It further adds that the establishment of this facility underscores Stellantis’ commitment to improving its aftersales support, by reducing vehicle downtime and ensuring timely access to automotive parts for dealers and customers.
This development aligns with Stellantis’ strategy to enhance its footprint in the region. Daniel Gonzalez, Chief Operating Officer, Stellantis ASEAN, previously highlighted the importance of the India & Asia Pacific region as the company’s third growth engine. He stated that the investment in the Regional Parts Hub reflects Stellantis’ long-term commitment to strengthening its presence and contributing to Malaysia’s position as a regional automotive hub.
Incidentally, this regional hub has been part of Stellantis’ plans for Malaysia since 2021. This new facility will likely also be key to the auto conglomerate’s upcoming local expansion ambitions, which if rumours are to be believed will see the imminent return of Citroen and Alfa Romeo to our shores.
A year ago, Stellantis themselves had established a National Sales Company (NSC) in Malaysia to direct and manage the sale and distribution of its vehicles in Malaysia. The automotive conglomerate currently has two brands locally: Peugeot and Leapmotor.
2024 saw Peugeot attempt yet another local revival, with the launch of its 408 fastback. Leapmotor on the other hand made its Malaysian debut in the latter half of last year with its C10 all-electric SUV.
