Porsche Expands Local Macan Lineup To Include Base & 4S Trims

The upcoming all-electric Porsche Macan lineup for Malaysia is to now start from RM 430,000.

While its local launch is still to be a couple months away, Porsche has nevertheless since announced that it has already expanded its upcoming Malaysian Macan offering. The base variant and 4S trims will now be made available for order over here, alongside the previously announced 4 and Turbo variants.

Both the base rear-wheel drive and 4S trims are incidentally new international additions to the Macan lineup. The prices for the four variants available to order locally are as follows:

·       Macan: RM 430,000

·       Macan 4: RM 445,000

·       Macan 4S: RM 525,000

·       Macan Turbo: RM 635,000

Now by forgoing all-wheel drive, the base-trim single-motor Macan is supposedly some 110 kg lighter than the Macan 4 and therefore requires less electricity for propulsion. Porsche is currently quoting a combined WLTP range of up to 641 km from the 100 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery in this entry level e-SUV, which is to be the most out of any variant within the range thus far.

And it is worth noting too that this base Macan ain’t exactly all that slow either, as the sole rear-axle motor shared with the Macan 4 still is capable of outputting 340 PS (or 360 PS of overboost power in combination with Launch Control) and 563 Nm of torque. From a standing start therefore, this e-SUV can reach the 100 km/h mark in 5.7 seconds and onto a top speed of 220 km/h.

Bridging the gap between the Macan 4 and Turbo meanwhile is the new 4S trim, with this variant most prominently distinguished from the former by way of a new(ly enlarged) rear axle motor. Paired together with the same front-axle motor, this results in a combined all-wheel drive system output of 330 kW (448 PS) with a short power overboost to up to 380 kW (516 PS). Maximum torque on the other hand is rated at 820 Nm.

With Launch Control activated, the Macan 4S makes the standard sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds (vs the 4.9 s time of the Macan 4 and 3.1 s time of the Turbo) before maxing out at 240 km/h. Porsche currently quotes for this spec of e-SUV to have a combined WLTP range of up to 606 km from its 100 kWh battery pack.

The Macan 4S is further equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) electronic damping control as standard, much like its higher-end Turbo variant. The Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and rear-axle steering in turn is available as an option for this trim.

All Macans come standard with an AC and DC charging capability of up to 11 kW and 270 kW respectively, courtesy of the 800-volt architecture of its Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Its high-voltage battery has been claimed to charge from 10 to 80% within around 21 minutes at a suitable fast-charging station, while a slow charge from flat to full from a wallbox will take around 10 hours.

Aside from the launch of the two new variants, Porsche has also since introduced a new Slate Grey Neo colour to the Macan’s existing colour palette. A 20-inch Macan S wheel design has been added to the wheel portfolio as well, in addition to a new off-road design package.

This new off-road design package brings with it altered geometry of the front bumper, which has has increased the approach angle to up to 17.4º. In combination with adaptive air suspension, ground clearance has also been upped by 10 mm to 195 mm at the normal setting.

Porsche currently offers the off-road design package in two colours: in Vesuvius Grey and in the exterior colour. The front bumper, side skirts, diffuser panels and roof railings are then painted accordingly. Matching 21-inch off-road design wheels in Vesuvius Grey are also offered. For customers who pick the off-road design package variant in the car’s exterior colour, the side blades are also painted in the same colour. The roof railings can be ordered in Black, Silver or Turbonite (Turbo only).

For the Macan, Macan 4 and Macan 4S, the off-road front bumper with an inlay in Vesuvius Grey is also available separately. The approach angle increases as with the off-road design package.

Other additional standard options that are available for Macans in Malaysia meanwhile includes Power Steering Plus, electrically-opening charging cover, four-zone climate control, a 230V power outlet in the luggage compartment and a premium BOSE® Surround Sound System.
