Perodua Partners MyDigital ID For Secure User Authentication Access

Perodua is currently aiming for this new partnership to further advance its cashless transaction capabilities.

Perodua has recently taken a significant step toward strengthening its digital security infrastructure by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with My Digital ID Sdn Bhd (MyDigital ID). The Malaysian automaker currently touts that this pioneering collaboration will help it implement secure user authentication access, as it advances its cashless transaction capabilities.

“This collaboration is the first of its kind for the country’s automotive industry as MyDigital ID being the country’s gatekeeper for authentication transactions enables us to further diversify our services to our customers specifically, and to all Malaysians in general,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

Now, for those who are unfamiliar, MyDigital ID touts itself as a secured and trusted National Digital Identity initiative recently developed by the government to enable Malaysians to seamlessly and safely access both government and private digital services. Perodua has yet to reveal what digital services it will offer with this new partnership, but it could potentially range from simplifying new car purchase approval processes to even offering online real-time vehicle service updates.

Whatever it may be, Mohd Azuddin Parman, Chief Operation Officer of MyDigital ID, has emphasised the significance of this partnership by stating: “This strategic collaboration with Perodua demonstrates the important role of digital identity in accelerating digital transformation within the automotive industry.”

He further highlighted that the partnership focuses on ensuring trusted digital identity verification while enhancing the safety and convenience of digital interactions. “It empowers industries like the automotive to offer secure and user-friendly experiences for every customer. At the same time, we are contributing to the advancement of Malaysia’s digital economy,” Mohd Azuddin concluded.

This latest MoU signing between Perodua and MyDigital ID is incidentally the latest in the long line of partnerships the Malaysian automaker has entered into in recent times, with it having lately tied up with many major Malaysian organisations including Petronas, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, and Telekom Malaysia Bhd, forming part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance customer experience.

“These other partnerships will offer a world of products and services to our future customers and we want our customers to be as safe as possible,” added Dato’ Sri Zainal.

Perodua is currently on track to reveal its first-ever EV by the end of this year, with expected pricing to be around the RM 80,000 mark. Do note though that this aforementioned figure does not include the battery, which the automaker likely intends to offer in a lease to its owners, thereby eliminating worries about degradation and resale value.
