Chery Exported On Average 1 Car Every 26 Seconds In 2025

The Chery Group extends its run as China’s leading passenger vehicle exporter for the 23rd consecutive year.
With two of its brands now sitting comfortably within Malaysia’s top 10 best-selling automotive marques, it should come as little surprise that Chery exports a sizeable number of vehicles globally. Still, the sheer scale of those exports may raise eyebrows, as the Chinese automaker revealed that it shipped out an average of one vehicle every 26 seconds throughout 2025.

That headline figure is underpinned by Chery Group’s total overseas exports of 1,344,020 vehicles in 2025, which accounted for roughly 48% of its overall sales volume of 2,806,393 units for the year. This export performance also represented a 17.4% year-on-year increase from 2024, allowing Chery to retain its title as China’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for an impressive 23 consecutive years.
The year 2025 also proved to be a landmark one for the brand on a cumulative basis. In August, Chery crossed the five-million-unit milestone for global exports, and at its current pace, the group is expected to hit six million exported vehicles within the coming months. Adding to that momentum was another first, as monthly export volumes exceeded 140,000 units for the first time, with figures continuing to trend upward as the year progressed.

Of course, it is worth noting that these export numbers reflect the combined performance of Chery’s extensive portfolio of sub-brands. In Malaysia alone after all, the Chinese automaker currently operates four marques — Chery, Omoda Jaecoo, iCaur and Jetour — with a fifth brand, Lepas, confirmed to be on the way in the near future.
Local registration data from JPJ paints a clear picture of the group’s growing influence here. Omoda Jaecoo currently ranks as Malaysia’s fifth best-selling automotive marque, while the core Chery brand sits just behind BYD in eighth place. Jetour, meanwhile, has also made a surprisingly strong showing of its own, already surpassing MINI in total local registrations, despite only commencing sales locally in April 2025.

On the model front, the Jaecoo J7 has emerged as one of the market’s standout performers, ranking among Malaysia’s top 20 best-selling vehicles for 2025 with over 10,000 units registered between January and November. This strong demand played a key role in Omoda Jaecoo reaching a significant local milestone, with the brand celebrating the delivery of its 20,000th unit just over a year after its Malaysian market debut in July 2024.

Looking ahead, the Chery Group shows no signs of slowing down. Jaecoo is expected to introduce the new J5 compact crossover next year, while industry chatter also points to the imminent arrival of the Omoda C7, a slightly smaller sibling to the Omoda C9. On the Jetour front, the rugged, Defender-inspired T2 is anticipated to debut within the next couple of months, followed by the smaller T1 later in the year.

As for the mainline Chery brand, it has already confirmed that a second facelift of the Chery O5 will be launched locally, meaning Malaysian buyers will see another update arrive less than a year after the model’s first facelift made its debut here in late 2025.
