Northport To Use Proton e.MAS 7s As Auxiliary Police Patrol Cars

This incidentally marks the first time that the Proton e.MAS 7 has been used under a fleet arrangement.
Northport (Malaysia) Bhd has just become the first port operator in Malaysia to integrate the Proton e.MAS 7 into its fleet operations, with it using 3 of these EVs as its auxiliary police patrol vehicles. This incidentally the first time the first all-electric car from the Malaysian marque has been deployed under a corporate fleet arrangement, marking a significant milestone for both Northport and Proton in the push toward sustainable transportation.
Now according to Proton, the e.MAS 7 brings real-world benefits for patrol applications. Its fully electric drivetrain ensures quiet, smooth driving—an underrated advantage that reduces fatigue during long shifts and helps lower ambient noise within the busy port area. Its fast-charging capability also means that officers can keep their vehicles mission-ready, with minimal downtime.
The EV’s low maintenance needs, thanks to its simplified powertrain, are another bonus. This makes it an ideal vehicle for fleet use where reliability and efficiency are paramount.
“This partnership with Northport highlights how EVs are becoming a viable, real-world solution—not just for consumers, but for businesses too,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. “The Proton e.MAS 7 is built for practical, everyday use, and this fleet deployment proves it can deliver performance and sustainability in equal measure.”
Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin, Northport CEO, added, “By choosing the e.MAS 7, we’re supporting local innovation and showing that sustainable operations can go hand-in-hand with national industry development.”
Since its launch in December 2024, the Proton e.MAS 7 has been on a roll. With over 5,500 bookings and more than 1,800 units delivered, it presently remains the best-selling EV in Malaysia for the third straight month of 2025.
The e.Mas 7 is offered in two variants, with the base Prime and top-spec Premium priced at RM 109,800 and RM 123,800 respectively. Proton currently offers a RM 4,000 discount for the first 6,000 buyers, which lowers the EV’s price down to RM 105,800 and RM 119,800 respectively.
Both variants of the e.MAS 7 feature the same front-mounted ’12-in-1 Electric Drive System’, outputting 160 kW (218 PS) and 320 Nm of torque. This in turn sees for this e-SUV to quote a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds, before eventually maxing out at a top speed of 175 km/h.
Both variants of the e.MAS 7 are also to be powered by a battery pack comprising of Aegis Short Blade cells of a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The Prime however comes a smaller 49.52 kWh battery pack that is only good for a WLTP-rated range of 345 km, whereas the Premium nets a larger unit with 60.22 kWh usable capacity, which hence extends that figure to 410 km.
