Mitsubishi Xforce Earns A 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating
Rumour has it that this particular Mitsubishi compact crossover will be landing locally rather soon.
Mitsubishi has recently announced that its all-new Xforce compact SUV has earned a maximum five-star rating in the 2024 ASEAN NCAP (ASEAN New Car Assessment Program).
This particular compact crossover is to be the second model (after the new Triton) from the tri-diamond marque to be tested under the more stringent protocol enacted from 2021, and it came away with an admirable combined weighted score of 79.15. The Xforce that was tested by ASEAN NCAP is interestingly the lower-spec Exceed variant (relative to the top-trim Ultimate) that originated from Indonesia for sale in Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The Xforce managed to score 27.91 out of a possible 32.00 points in the adult occupant protection (AOP) category, while it secured 43.43 out of a possible 51.00 points in the child occupant protection (COP) category. For the safety assist category meanwhile, it scored 15.59 from a possible 21.00 points, whereas in the motorcyclist safety category it scored 9.91 from a possible 16.00 points.
This is what ASEAN NCAP had to say regarding the safety of the Mitsubishi Xforce:
The newly assessed Mitsubishi Xforce is the second model under the Mitsubishi brand that underwent ASEAN NCAP assessment under the 2021-2025 protocol. The new Xforce offers 4 airbags as standard together with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for frontal and rear seats occupants and Pedestrian Protection (PP) technology across all its variants.
In addition, the model has several key safety technologies that are equipped either as standard or optional comprising the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Auto High Beam (AHB). The Mitsubishi XFORCE made a superb performance in the current 2021-2025 assessment by achieving 5-Star rating in all the assessment categories.
Initially premiered in Indonesia in 2023, the Xforce is a compact five-seat SUV built around the concept of being the “best-suited buddy for an exciting life” and was developed with a focus on how compact SUVs are used in the ASEAN region. Its maker touts for it to feature ‘a stylish yet robust, authentic SUV styling, along with comfort and practicality, such as a spacious cabin and versatile storage spaces, all well-balanced in a manoeuvrable, compact body size.’
Following its sales launch in Indonesia in November 2023, the Xforce was soon released in other ASEAN markets, including Vietnam in March and the Philippines in July. This Mitsubishi compact crossover has been sighted on Malaysian roads earlier this year, with there being credible rumours of it arriving over here (alongside the new Triton) in the next couple of months.
