Mitsubishi Dolls Up Its Triton Athlete To Celebrate 20 Years In Malaysia

More handily is that Mitsubishi has also given this new dolled-up Triton Athlete a RM 6,000 price drop.
In conjunction with its 20th anniversary in Malaysia, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has recently given its flagship pickup, the Triton Athlete, a mild styling update, along with a generous RM 6,000 price cut.
The subtle styling updates to the Triton Athlete include a silver skid plate with black borders up front, revised side decals, and a new styling bar plus tailgate assist for its bed. These little tweaks lend the truck a tougher, more assertive presence that further helps set it apart from its lower-tier siblings.
But the bigger headline here is with its pricing, as fully loaded Triton Athlete is now available at just RM 159,980 on-the-road without insurance. This represents a decently sizeable drop of RM 6,000, from its original RM 165,980 price tag.
And to sweeten the deal further too, MMM is offering a choice of exclusive promotions for a limited time. Buyers of the Triton Athlete can opt for either 5-Year Free Maintenance (5YFM) or up to RM8,000 worth of rewards, making this already feature-packed pickup even more appealing. Every purchase is also backed by a comprehensive 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage.
Moreover, for those looking at financing, attractive options are available through Maybank and Public Bank, with interest rates starting as low as 0.6%. These anniversary offers are tailored to make the Triton Athlete more accessible while providing unbeatable value during this celebratory period.
Locally launched last year, the new award-winning Triton range in Malaysia now comprises five variants:
- Triton Single Cab – RM101,980
- Triton MT – RM114,980
- Triton AT GL – RM116,980
- Triton AT Premium – RM145,980
- Triton Athlete – RM159,980
The range-topping Triton Athlete comes fully loaded. Under its hood lies a newly updated 2.4L MIVEC turbodiesel engine delivering 204 PS and 470 Nm of torque. The pickup also benefits from Mitsubishi’s Super Select II 4WD system with seven drive modes (Normal, Eco, Gravel, Sand, Mud, Snow, and Rock) as well as the automaker’s famed Active Yaw Control (AYC).
Exterior highlights for this flagship Triton include gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels, gloss black mirrors with Dark Titanium side steps, and black-finished door handles. Inside, the cabin is treated to premium suede and orange leatherette upholstery, a wireless charging pad, and additional tech features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system and adaptive cruise control.
“In the spirit of gratitude for Malaysians’ unwavering support over the past two decades, we are offering the enhanced Triton Athlete at this new price point,” said Shinya Ikeda, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia. “We are incredibly thankful for the trust and loyalty Malaysians have shown us. After nearly two decades, the Triton continues to be a symbol of strength, reliability, and trust among Malaysian drivers, with close to 120,000 units sold.”
Ikeda also highlighted the Triton’s proven capability both on-road and off-road, stating that this latest version reflects MMM’s commitment to evolving with customer needs. “The enhanced Triton Athlete embodies our continued commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customers. We’re proud to introduce this model as part of our 20th anniversary celebration and look forward to making it even more accessible to Malaysians nationwide.”
As an added bonus to the festivities, MMM is also launching an exciting ‘Scratch & Win’ contest starting June 16. Customers who book a new Triton or Xpander (any variant) at authorised Mitsubishi dealerships will be eligible to participate. Upon registration and vehicle collection, customers will receive a Scratch & Win card with chances to win attractive prizes, including the upcoming iPhone 16, iPad, iPods, Seiko watches, and THULE gear.
