Chery Tiggo 4 Pro Compact Crossover To Land Locally By Q4 2024

The Tiggo 4 Pro will complement the local debut of Chery’s Omoda E5 and Tiggo 7 Pro in 2024.

While Chery certainly had its work cut out last year in its local (re)launch over here, 2024 however will likely only be an even busier year for the Chinese automaker. Such is because it has recently announced ambitious plans in further expanding its already numerous dealerships, as well as bringing in 3 more new products for the Malaysian market over the next 12 months.

Now in terms of these imminent local Chery debuts, two of them have since been confirmed to be the Omoda E5 and Tiggo 7 Pro, which will be arriving in March and by June of this year respectively. The third though still officially remains a mystery thus far, but the Chinese automaker’s hint that this new model being a more affordable offering does strongly hint for it to be Tiggo 4 Pro compact crossover.

Previously showcased at Chery’s first-ever event over here back in 2022, the Tiggo 4 Pro will likely land locally with its sights squarely set on competing against Honda’s WR-V and Perodua’s soon-to-launch Toyota Yaris Cross rebadge. As such therefore, expect prices in Malaysia for this Chinese compact crossover to likely be in the region of the RM 85,000 – RM 100,000 mark.

As Chery has not even officially confirmed the imminent arrival of the Tiggo 4, the tech specs of this localised version is unfortunately still to be unknown thus far. What is nevertheless known though is for this Chinese compact crossover to currently be powered in other markets from a choice of either boosted or naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four cylinder, which in turn is both mated to a CVT sending power to its front wheels.

Where this Chery would likely also make a case for itself against its rivals here is from its extensive list of standard equipment, highlights of which within (in other export markets at least) includes a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central infotainment touchscreen and single-zone automatic climate control. This Tiggo Pro is further topped off on the outside with LED lights on both ends and 17-inch alloy wheels complementing its boxy side profile.

Turning the discussion towards Chery’s wider 2024 goals over here meanwhile, the Chinese automaker aims to have at least 48 outlets in operation locally in 2024. This significant expansion will hopefully mark a staggering increase of 70% to its 3S and 4S centres in Malaysia from where it is currently, and is aiming for this rapid expansion to further enhance accessibility for customers and further establish its presence across various regions nationwide.

Chery Auto Malaysia Network Development Director Soon Boon Ping further added for the brand’s primary focus to currently be on geographical expansion through strategic partnerships, scalability, and future-proofing. Additionally, he highlighted the commitment to invest significantly in the training and skill development of both sales and aftersales teams, underscoring the brand’s dedication to continuous improvement and excellence.
