MINI Cooper Paul Smith Edition Now Available In Malaysia

This special designer edition of an all-electric MINI Cooper SE could be yours from RM 222,222.

For those who want a bit more design flair with their already fashionable MINI, MINI Malaysia may now have just the thing. Such is as the British marque has recently announced the local launch of the MINI Paul Smith Edition, which could be yours from RM 222,222.

Based on the all-electric MINI Cooper SE, this special edition gains a number of bespoke touches over the base car. Nottingham Green accents feature prominently on the side mirrors, radiator grille and hub caps, with the roof finished in the same hue. This is then complemented by Paul Smith’s signature multicolour stripes running across the roof edge between the B- and C-pillars.

The 18-inch Slide Spoke alloy wheels it rides on are also incidentally finished in Nottingham Green and paired with Dark Steel accents, along with hub caps bearing the Paul Smith logo. There are also Black Blue MINI emblems, as well as ‘Paul Smith’ lettering in Anthracite Grey on the tailgate.

Moving inside, the side mirror puddle lamps project a friendly ‘hello’ in Smith’s handwriting to greet passengers. The cabin itself features Nightshade Blue JCW Sports seats upholstered in Vescin, complete with Shadow Stripe knitting on the shoulder and headrest areas, alongside a Paul Smith label.

This Shadow Stripe theme continues across the dashboard, inspired by Smith’s signature stripe design. On the passenger side sits a decorative black leather band with blue stitching, while the door sill trims carry the message “Every day is a new beginning!” in the designer’s handwriting.

Other signature touches include a hand-drawn rabbit motif embroidered into the floor mats, while the steering wheel’s textile band adds a subtle splash of colour. Even the round touchscreen infotainment system has been customised, featuring three exclusive backgrounds designed by Paul Smith, with his signature stripes subtly integrated along the upper edge of the display.

Unfortunately, there is no Paul Smith handiwork when it comes to what powers this MINI. As such, the standard Cooper SE powertrain remains, featuring a 218 PS front-mounted electric motor paired with a 54.2-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery. This setup delivers a 0–100 km/h sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a WLTP-rated range of up to 402 km.

Charging capabilities are unchanged too, with AC charging capped at 11 kW. DC fast charging peaks at 95 kW, allowing a 10–80% state of charge in under 30 minutes.

The Paul Smith Edition is available in two colours. The first is Inspired White, a reinterpretation of the MINI Classic Pepper White; while the second is Statement Grey, a blue-tinged grey that pays homage to the original 1959 MINI Austin Seven.

Returning to the price, the RM 222,222 asking figure includes a standard two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. Opting for the extended four-year warranty and service package bumps the price up to RM 228,522. For reference too, this special edition commands roughly a RM28k premium over the base car. Though for those who value a bit of designer flair, that may well be part of the appeal.
