Mercedes-Benz Adds EV Chargers To Local High-End Hotels
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia adds EV chargers to the resorts and hotels it expects its clientele to frequent.
In what can only be described as a very Mercedes-Benz move, the three-pointed star marque has recently announced ‘a transformative nationwide collaboration with prestigious hotels and golf course in the country’ to integrate ‘cutting-edge electric mobility solutions with exclusive lifestyle offerings’. Or if putting it in plainer English here, the luxury German marque is essentially adding EV charging capabilities to the locations its customers frequent (or at least envisions/aspires to anyway…)
And getting straight to the point, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has currently partnered to add EV chargers at the following hotels and resort:
- Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, Penang
- Marriott Penang, Penang
- RuMa Hotel & Residences, Kuala Lumpur,
- Saujana Golf & Country Club, Kuala Lumpur
- Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, Johor.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia touts that this initiative reflects the brand’s focus on blending lifestyle offerings with sustainability, creating meaningful touchpoints for customers beyond vehicle ownership. Its customers can incidentally also enjoy further privileges at these partner hotels by simply showing their Mercedes-Benz Card or App upon check-in, ensuring an elevated and seamless experience.
The German marque has since announced too that it is actively exploring potential collaborations with luxurious hotels, shopping malls, and golf courses ‘to expand its portfolio of exclusive lifestyle offerings’.
Speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with the partner hotels, held at the Saujana Golf & Country Club, Amanda Zhang, CEO & President, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia said, “Mercedes-Benz has always been at the forefront of driving the future of mobility and luxury through meaningful and synergistic collaborations. By seamlessly integrating electric mobility into luxury lifestyle experiences, we are redefining the essence of being a Mercedes-Benz customer. Our long-term strategy is not only about making electric vehicle ownership more accessible but also to enhance every touchpoint of our customers’ journey through tailored solutions and meaningful partnerships that embody our commitment to sustainability and innovation.”
Edmin Naidoo, Vice President of Customer Services, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia added, “Our partnerships are designed to address the diverse needs of our customers while supporting Malaysia’s transition to sustainable mobility. By expanding the EV charging ecosystem and offering customised solutions, we are addressing today’s customer trends and expectations and further laying the foundation for a more sustainable customer centric future.”
Recognising the increasing demand for electric mobility, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia aims to continue strengthening its EV infrastructure through a multi-channel approach:
- Charge@Home – Wallbox installations for private residences, allowing owners to charge their vehicles with ease overnight.
- Charge@Retail – EV charging facilities at Mercedes-Benz retail outlets, enabling charging during visits for service or consultation.
- Charge@Public – Branded charging stations at partner hotels, resorts, and golf courses to ensure reliability for customers travelling or visiting luxury locations.
In collaboration with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) such as EV Connection, ChargeEV, and Gentari, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is spearheading efforts to develop a cohesive and efficient nationwide EV charging infrastructure. These partnerships aim to ensure reliable and widespread access for EV owners, further bridging gaps in Malaysia’s charging network.
