Jetour Officially Kickstarts CKD Effort In Malaysia With B-Assembly

The two Jetour models that are currently locally assembled are the Dashing and VT9.
In a strong signal of its long-term commitment to the Malaysian market, Jetour Auto Malaysia has officially commenced local assembly operations for its SUV lineup. The brand’s CKD efforts are based at the Berjaya Assembly Sdn. Bhd. (B-Assembly) plant in Tampoi, Johor Bahru, housed within an expansive 640,000 sq. ft. facility and supported by a workforce of over 100 skilled employees.
The two Jetour models currently assembled locally are the Dashing and VT9. The former is a mid-sized, five-seater SUV priced from RM 109,800, while the latter is a slightly larger seven-seater offering, starting from RM 118,800.
As of today, over 1,000 units of the Dashing have already rolled off the production line in Tampoi. Only the first 100 units were previously fully imported as CBU from China.
According to Mr. Wen Qiangkang, Vice President of Jetour International, “This important milestone reflects our strong confidence in Malaysia as a strategic market. It represents a key investment in talent, innovation, and the future of mobility in this region.” Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Fu Yong, CEO of Jetour Malaysia, added, “With the full launch of local production, we are proud to deliver high-quality vehicles assembled in Malaysia. This partnership with B-Assembly provides a solid platform for our wider expansion across ASEAN.”
B-Assembly, a wholly owned subsidiary of Berjaya Assets Berhad, serves as Jetour’s local production partner. Its facility is equipped with Industry 4.0-ready systems to support high manufacturing standards, operational efficiency, and sustainable production. Dato’ Tony Khor, Advisor of B-Assembly, commented, “We are proud to be Jetour’s local assembly partner. This collaboration reflects our shared belief in the future of Malaysia’s automotive industry and our role in driving its development.”
Since its official Malaysian debut in early 2025, Jetour has expanded rapidly, with more than 20 sales and service outlets now operating nationwide. The brand is showing no signs of slowing down either, with much talk surrounding the imminent arrival of new models. These include the rugged, Defender-inspired T2 SUV and the fully electric eVT5 crossover, both of which are expected to bolster Jetour’s local lineup in the near future.
Looking further ahead, Jetour plans to invest RM1.4 billion in Malaysia to support the launch of more CKD models and to develop an export programme targeting neighbouring ASEAN markets, Oceania, and the Middle East. Malaysia is also set to become Jetour’s Asia-Pacific R&D hub, with collaborative input from its regional branches in Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia.
Curiously though, despite being a sub-brand of Chery, Jetour’s CKD operations are completely independent of its parent company’s local assembly activities. Chery itself partners with Inokom in Kulim for its CKD efforts, while Omoda Jaecoo operate their own dedicated facility in Shah Alam.
