GWM Celebrates Merdeka With Its New Promotional Campaign

This “Gaya Wawasan Malaysia” campaign by GWM runs from 16th August to 28th September 2025.
It may be a Chinese brand, but GWM is leaning hard into Malaysian pride this Merdeka if it helps sell more cars. That’s pretty much why it has rolled out a new promotional campaign for August and September, fittingly called “Gaya Wawasan Malaysia”.
Running nationwide from 16 August to 28 September 2025, the initiative aims to bring Malaysians together through exclusive promotions, fun showroom activities, and a nationwide roadshow series — all while celebrating the nation’s vibrant independence spirit.
“Merdeka is a time for us to reflect on how far we have come as a nation, and to look ahead with confidence and vision. At GWM Malaysia, we believe mobility is more than just transportation — it is about empowering people, connecting communities, and driving progress. ‘Gaya Wawasan Malaysia’ embodies our commitment to deliver products and experiences that Malaysians can be proud of,” said Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia.
Book & Win Weekends
At the heart of the campaign is the Merdeka “Book & Win” contest, happening every weekend during the campaign period at authorised GWM showrooms nationwide. Customers who book a GWM vehicle on Saturdays or Sundays will have two chances to win: an immediate lucky draw, plus entry into a Grand Lucky Draw featuring prizes worth up to RM 120,000.
The Grand Lucky Draw line-up includes exciting prizes such as the iPhone 16 Pro, Nintendo Switch 2, DJI Osmo Pocket 3, Philips Air Purifier, Xiaomi X20+ Robot Vacuum, Samsung Galaxy A56, Marshall Acton III speaker, Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones, Galaxy Watch 7, and a Dyson Cool Fan. Running across seven weekends from 16 August to 28 September, the contest ensures that customers nationwide have ample opportunity to participate.

GWM Goes on Tour – Nationwide Roadshow
Extending the celebration beyond its showrooms, GWM Malaysia is also embarking on a “GWM Goes on Tour” roadshow. This nationwide series will feature test drives, interactive activities, and roadshow-exclusive promotions.
Highlights include stops at Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur (10–14 September), GF Luxe at 1 Utama (7 October – 6 November), Sunway Carnival Mall in Penang (30 October – 2 November), and Ipoh Parade (6–9 November). The roadshow is set to give Malaysians first-hand experiences with GWM’s latest models while providing a family-friendly atmosphere.
New Klang Showroom Opens
As part of its continued expansion, GWM Malaysia has also unveiled a new showroom in Klang. The 3,900 sq ft facility features a spacious 1,140 sq ft customer lounge, three fully equipped service bays, and the capacity to handle up to 200 vehicles monthly. Open daily for both sales and service, the outlet represents GWM’s commitment to offering a premium retail experience paired with reliable aftersales support.
More Malaysian Than You Think
Now just a little side note at the end here, while GWM is often associated with its Chinese roots, its local footprint in Malaysia is nevertheless stronger than many of its similarly oriental counterparts. Assembly of the Haval H6 HEV is already taking place at EP Manufacturing Berhad’s (EPMB) facility in Melaka, underscoring GWM’s commitment to the Malaysian market.
This therefore makes its current Merdeka promotion not only just symbolic, but also somewhat reflective of its real local investment and potential long-term growth.
