Behind The Scenes At The Bangkok International Motor Show 2025

The Bangkok International Motor Show 2025 is set to take place from 26th March – 6th April.
The Bangkok International Motor Show 2025 is back for its 46th edition, taking over IMPACT Muang Thong Thani from March 26th to April 6th.
A whopping 54 automakers are set to exhibit their exciting wares at one of the most anticipated automotive events in Southeast Asia. And while Automacha unfortunately won’t be on the ground this time round, here are nevertheless a few behind-the-scenes snapshots straight from the show floor — obtained from its organiser ahead of the grand opening — for a tantalising first look at what’s brewing at the event!
Now, as for those who want to see the show in person, general admission tickets are currently priced at a very reasonable 100 baht (RM 13). Interestingly however, tickets are only purchasable via Line, with instructions available at the link here.
BYD seems to have quite the packed booth at the Bangkok Motor Show this year.
A closer look at the photo below also reveals that the Chinese automaker’s Shark 6 PHEV pickup is set to take centre stage at its pavilion, though also spotted too is the new Atto 2 (white car second from left).
BMW looks intent to excite show-goers with a range of its M cars at the Bangkok Motor Show this year. Among the cars spotted includes a red M2, a white M4, and who could actually miss the bright yellow XM…
Mercedes-Benz meanwhile looks like it is going for a luxury theme for the show this year, with it exhibiting both its flagship S-badged models in the form of its new S-Class luxury limousine and SL cabriolet. And there looks to even be a rather gold Maybach on display to the side for those who want that little bit more opulence.
Taking centre stage at the MG booth is the IM6, which with its official debut at the Bangkok Motor Show incidentally marking the first international export market for this particular sub-brand of Chinese auto giant SAIC.
Two variants are currently promised for the Land of Smiles: Premium RWD and Performance AWD, costing 1,399,900 baht (RM 184,000) and 1,799,900 baht (RM 235,000) respectively.
But the more pertinent question to ask here for us in Malaysia is whether or not this all-electric crossover will eventually make its way down south or not?
Here’s the Mitsubishi contingent rolling into their booth. The big news with the tri-diamond marque at the show this year is the local debut of its Xforce HEV, seen in orange immediately below. This self-charging hybrid variant of the automaker’s B-segment crossover pairs an 116 PS electric motor to a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder, with it claiming a class-leading fuel economy figure of 24.4 km/l.
The Thai-assembled e:N1 shares the spotlight at the Honda booth with the facelifted HR-V. Both of these SUVs are incidentally set to make its way to Malaysia within the next couple of months.
New with the facelifted HR-V is an (ever-so-slightly) altered exterior appearance that features a larger front grille and taillights incorporating slim red bars within it, in addition to a mildly refreshed cabin that has brought with it a reworked centre console design.
Xpeng does not appear to have brought anything new to the show this year, but its futuristic-looking Xpeng X9 MPV and G6 SUV nevertheless still look like they are cars that come from 10 years in the future…
John Cooper Works seems to be the order of the day at MINI for the Bangkok Motor Show this year…
Rather surprisingly, Toyota doesn’t appear be previewing its next-gen Hilux at the show, even if it has already confirmed that this upcoming iteration is set to roll out of its Thai plant by the end of this year.
Likely in an effort to distract everyone from this large omission therefore, Toyota has instead showcased a rather cool lowered and rally-fied version of its outgoing Hilux. Complete with yellow spotlights and a roof rack.
Spied just at the back of shot in the photo below appears to be the Mazda 6e hiding under the covers. This all-electric Mazda sedan is technically to be a rebadge of a Changan, and will apparently be going on sale in Thailand within the year.
…and speaking of Changan, the Chinese automaker also has a booth in the show as well. Here’s one of its Deepal pickups (or as we know it here in Malaysia: a Peugeot Landtrek) making its way to its spot.
While on the topic of pickups too, here’s Geely showing up at the Bangkok Motor Show with its RD6.
The RD6 incidentally holds the title as being Thailand’s first all-electric pickup to go on sale when it made its local debut over there late last year. It is a unibody truck built on the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) as EVs like the smart #1 and Volvo EX30, which sees for it to pack a whopping combined 428 PS in the top-end four-wheel drive variants and a hot hatch-beating century sprint time of just 4.5 seconds.
Nissan has used the Bangkok Motor Show to debut the new Serena e-POWER over there. This award-winning MPV has actually been out for over 2 years in its home market already, but yet we’re still soldering on in Malaysia with what its nearly a decade-old predecessor…
And here to end with something a little bit American (plus one Chinese imposter)…
