Allianz Malaysia Launches Rider Safety Initiative with MIROS and P-Hailing Platforms

Two training programs have been organised by Allianz Malaysia in collaboration with the Road Safety Marshall Club.
We’ve all likely witnessed delivery riders weaving through traffic or making risky road manoeuvres, all in a rush to shave seconds off their next drop-off. And thus recognising the growing risks posed by these gig workers, Allianz Malaysia has recently stepped forward with a comprehensive rider safety initiative aimed at improving road safety and well-being for p-hailing riders nationwide.
Now central to this initiative are two upcoming training programmes conducted in collaboration with the Road Safety Marshal Club. The first will focus on equipping active p-hailing riders with road safety best practices and emergency survival skills, supplementing existing safety efforts by the platforms themselves. The second meanwhile targets university students from both public and private institutions, instilling greater awareness of road safety among the younger generation.
This new programme has been developed in partnership with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and major p-hailing platforms including foodpanda Malaysia, Lalamove Malaysia, and Grab Malaysia. Allianz Malaysia has touted that this initiative further marks a significant step forward in addressing the growing safety challenges within Malaysia’s fast-expanding gig economy.
Announced at the Allianz Malaysia Media Forum 2025, the latest initiative from the insurance company seeks to foster a culture of safety and shared responsibility among all stakeholders, from corporates and government agencies to the p-hailing platforms themselves and the broader public.
“At Allianz Malaysia, we believe that rider safety is a shared duty,” said Chief Executive Officer Sean Wang regarding this new initiative. “Our efforts extend beyond profit—we are committed to giving back to society through meaningful initiatives that benefit all road users.”
Ir. Ts. Azhar Hamzah, Director of the Human Factors and Road User Behavioural Centre at MIROS, added, “Road safety is a shared responsibility. Through our research, we aim to uncover the risks and challenges faced by road users and identify solutions to improve rider safety and support their livelihoods.”
Allianz Malaysia remains steadfast in its mission to care for the future and enhance road safety, with these training programmes representing its proactive approach to road safety education Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, the initiative aims to transform safety insights into impactful actions that benefit Malaysia’s entire p-hailing community and broader society.
