Feytech is expanding into vehicle assembly through its subsidiary FT Assembly, which will support the local CKD assembly of the JAC T9 pick-up truck range in Kulim, Kedah.
The local assembly programme will cover the T9 PHEV, diesel and fully electric variants. Production of the T9 PHEV is expected to begin in November 2026, followed by the diesel variant, while production of the T9 EV is expected to start in January 2027.
According to Feytech, the T9 PHEV and EV will become Malaysia’s first locally assembled PHEV and fully electric pick-up trucks.
The new JAC assembly facility covers 84,000 sq ft and represents an initial investment of RM3.6 million. Feytech said the investment could reach RM8 million over the next three years.
The facility is expected to have a first-year production capacity of around 3,000 units, with up to 30% local content targeted.
The project marks Feytech’s move beyond automotive component manufacturing and into CKD vehicle assembly. The company originally focused on automotive covers before expanding into complete automotive seating systems.
Through FT Assembly, Feytech will now add vehicle assembly to its manufacturing operations, with the JAC T9 programme covering internal combustion, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains.
Feytech CEO Connie Go said the JAC project marks an important milestone in the company’s development from an automotive component manufacturer to a CKD assembly partner.
The company said the project will also expand its participation across Malaysia’s automotive value chain while building manufacturing capabilities for conventional, hybrid and electric vehicles.
