Rolls-Royce Set to Return to Malaysia in Q1 2027

Rolls-Royce is expected to return to Malaysia in the first quarter of 2027, with a new local team preparing to bring the luxury car brand back after its previous distributor, Quill Motorcars, stopped operations. The new team is said to have more than 50 years of combined leadership experience in the automotive industry.
There has been plenty of speculation over who would take over the Rolls-Royce business, with Sime Motors, Wearnes and Atlantis Motor all believed to have made their case for the brand.
According to a source close to the matter, two of the parties were informed recently that they were not selected by the Rolls-Royce decision-making teams in Asia Pacific and at the brand’s headquarters in Goodwood.
The successful Malaysian group is understood to have convinced Rolls-Royce that it has a good understanding of Malaysia’s high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). The plan is aimed at improving sales compared to the previous operation, which is an important factor when Rolls-Royce selects a new partner.

New Showroom At Pavilion Damansara Heights
One of the main parts of the plan is a new 349sqm showroom at Pavilion Damansara Heights. Located on the second floor of the mall, the showroom will reportedly have space to display up to three Rolls-Royce cars.
The location also provides access to the “Damansara Loop”, which includes winding and hilly residential roads as well as the SPRINT highway. This should give the new dealership a suitable area for test drives, with the surrounding roads and scenery adding to the experience.
The location is also surrounded by areas with a large number of wealthy residents, which could help Rolls-Royce reach its target customers.
Lotus Cars and Tesla already have showrooms at Pavilion Damansara Heights. However, it remains to be seen how well the mall is performing and whether enough residents are actually visiting it to support stronger vehicle sales.
New After-Sales Facility In Petaling Jaya
The new operation will also have an after-sales facility in Section 13, Petaling Jaya. This location is expected to include bonded warehouse facilities, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Provenance operations and the company’s corporate office.
The three-storey building will reportedly be constructed from the ground up and designed around the Rolls-Royce brand identity.
Interestingly, the building is only a short walk from the former Quill Rolls-Royce showroom in Petaling Jaya.
Malaysia’s Luxury Market Continues To Grow
Malaysia’s luxury goods market was valued at around USD2.05 billion (approximately MYR8.7 billion) in 2024 and is projected to reach USD3.25 billion (approximately MYR13.8 billion) by 2032, with a CAGR of 4.3% from 2026 to 2032.
Luxury buyers are also becoming more focused on experiences and product quality. Around 70% are willing to pay for exclusive brand-related experiences, while 71% are mainly influenced by product quality. Status has become less important at 32%.
Sustainability is also becoming more important, ranking 31% higher than price among luxury consumers. Meanwhile, 54% of luxury customers would consider buying certified pre-owned products directly from a brand.
For Rolls-Royce, the new Malaysian operation is reportedly targeting more than 40 new cars in its first year. That would be above the 29 units sold by Quill in its best-performing year.
More details about the new Rolls-Royce operation are expected to be revealed over the coming months.
