Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Arrives in Malaysia with More Power and Premium Technology

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has officially introduced the all-new Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, the new top-of-the-range variant of its seven-seat premium SUV, combining stronger performance, enhanced comfort and advanced technology with Volkswagen’s latest SUV design language.

Positioned between the Tiguan and Touareg, the Tayron expands Volkswagen’s SUV line-up with a larger seven-seat offering designed for growing families and professionals seeking additional space and versatility. The R-Line builds on this practicality with a more dynamic character, featuring a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged engine producing 265PS and 400Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed DSG transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
Helping to balance performance with everyday comfort is Volkswagen’s Dynamic Chassis Control Pro (DCC Pro), which uses electronically controlled two-valve dampers to continuously adapt to road conditions and driving styles. The system is designed to provide a composed ride during daily driving while offering greater control and responsiveness when the road gets more demanding.

The R-Line also receives a more athletic exterior treatment, with exclusive R-Line styling elements, IQ.Light HD Matrix headlights with glare-free high beam technology and an illuminated Volkswagen emblem. At the rear, 3D LED taillights with dynamic turn signals complement the sharper bodywork, while illuminated Volkswagen logos at both ends further distinguish the SUV.

Inside, the Tayron R-Line focuses heavily on comfort and practicality. Its Varenna leather ergoActive Plus front seats feature 12-way electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and a 10-air-cushion pneumatic massage function. The cabin is also equipped with a Harman Kardon sound system featuring 10+1 speakers, a dedicated subwoofer, 700-watt output and a 16-channel digital amplifier.

The flexible seven-seat configuration includes 40:20:40 split-folding second-row seats and 50:50 split-folding third-row seats. With both rows folded, luggage capacity increases to up to 1,905 litres, while an Easy Open & Close hands-free tailgate adds further convenience for everyday loading and family trips.

Technology is another major highlight, with the R-Line featuring a 15-inch Discover Pro Max infotainment system running Volkswagen’s latest MIB4 software, alongside wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro and head-up display provide key driving information directly within the driver’s field of view, while Volkswagen’s IDA voice assistant and Centre Console Multi-Function Control further enhance usability.

Safety and driver assistance are handled by Volkswagen’s latest IQ.DRIVE suite, which includes Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Side Assist, Rear Traffic Alert with Exit Warning, Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, Park Assist Plus, Emergency Assist and a Driver Attention Monitor. The R-Line is also equipped with nine airbags, including a front-centre airbag.

The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is priced at RM237,490, while the price including Volkswagen’s Assurance Package (VAP) stands at RM250,074. The VAP includes five years of free maintenance, a five-year manufacturer’s warranty and five years of roadside assistance.

The all-new Tayron R-Line will be available for viewing at authorised Volkswagen dealerships nationwide from 13 August 2026, with a special event running from 14 to 16 August. The Tayron Elegance and R-Line variants will also be displayed at the Volkswagen Tour at 1 Utama Shopping Centre until 31 August 2026.
