Honda Malaysia has since delivered the first 3 of its new Prelude hybrid coupes to eager owners over here.
Honda Malaysia has officially handed over the first three units of the new Prelude to their respective owners, marking the start of customer deliveries for the revived sports coupe in Malaysia. The three owners, Gan Ker Beng, Wahiduzaman Bin Abu Kashim and Dr. Davina Navreet Kaur, were celebrated at a recent customer appreciation event, with the Japanese automaker highlighting their shared enthusiasm for the iconic nameplate.
The trio come from different backgrounds, with Gan being an entrepreneur from Johor Bahru, Wahiduzaman a business owner from Kuala Lumpur and Dr. Davina an endodontist. Interestingly, the Prelude is not the first Honda for the first two owners, while Dr. Davina is experiencing Honda ownership for the first time with the new coupe.
This latest sixth-generation Prelude previously made its official Malaysian debut at KLIMS 2026, having first been previewed locally all the way back at KLIMS 2024. It is currently offered here in a single fully-loaded variant priced at RM 278,000, which, while still a good chunk of change, is nevertheless somewhat more affordable than many had initially expected.
Under the bonnet of this electrified coupe is a hybrid powertrain shared in principle with the Civic e, comprising an Atkinson-cycle 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine paired with Honda’s series-parallel hybrid system. Total system output stands at 203 hp, allowing the Prelude to complete the 0–100 km/h sprint in a somewhat leisurely 7.9 seconds before reaching a top speed of 180 km/h.
To Honda’s credit though, it has made the Prelude somewhat more engaging with the debut of its S+ Shift technology. The system is designed to replicate the sound, response and sensation of gear changes from an eight-speed automatic despite the coupe using an e-CVT.
The Civic chassis that largely underpins this coupe has also received considerable attention, with Honda borrowing several components from the Type R. These include its dual-axis MacPherson strut front suspension and adaptive dampers, while braking is handled by four-piston Brembo front callipers.
These aforementioned brakes then sit behind 19-inch Berlina Black alloy wheels, while the Prelude itself adopts a sleek grand tourer design with slim LED headlights, a flowing roofline, muscular rear haunches and a full-width rear light bar.
Moving along inside, the Civic-based dashboard is to differentiated in the Prelude by way of an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel featuring a centre marker, alongside semi-bucket dual-tone leather seats with Prelude logos embroidered into the headrests. Other standard equipment includes a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and wireless smartphone charging.
Safety equipment comprises seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and the full Honda Sensing suite, bringing features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring and Cross Traffic Monitor.
The All-New Prelude is available in Winter Frost Pearl, Rallye Red and Crystal Black Pearl. Included with the asking price is a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and five complimentary labour services, while the hybrid battery and associated components receive a separate 10-year unlimited mileage warranty.
