Toyota Malaysia Kicks Off 2026 With 4,700 Units Delivered In January

Toyota also starts the year strongly over here with the local debut of its automatic GR Corolla and hybrid Vios.
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has recently announced that it has kicked off 2026 on a steady footing, recording 4,700 vehicle registrations in January amid an increasingly competitive Malaysian automotive landscape. This decent sales result has been touted by the automaker to reflect continued demand across its core segments, underpinned by one of the broadest and most established product lineups in the local market.
Toyota further states that this measured start to the year further reinforces its consistent presence in Malaysia, shaped by a wide ownership base and a focus on long-term value rather than short-term market cycles. Guided by its “Best in Town” approach, the automaker aims to continue prioritising a dependable and well-supported ownership experience, with emphasis on product quality, nationwide service coverage and trusted aftersales support.

Now of course, recent developments across Toyota’s local model range has also done its bit to highlight the ongoing progress under its Multipathway strategy, which aims to broaden mobility options without leaving customers behind. Among the key (and more exciting) updates is the introduction of the GR Corolla with an automatic transmission, making the Japanese marque’s hyper hatch just that little bit more accessible to a wider group of enthusiasts.
As for something far more sensible meanwhile, the recent launch of the Vios Hybrid marks a significant milestone by bringing electrified mobility to one of Malaysia’s most trusted and widely owned nameplates. As the year progresses too, Toyota has hinted at plans to further expand its range of mobility technologies, supporting customers at different stages of electrification adoption.

And supporting this expansion is UMWT’s continued investment in local production capabilities. Its hybrid battery assembly facility at the Bukit Raja plant is capable of assembling up to 30,000 hybrid battery units annually, strengthening supply resilience while enabling the scalable adoption of hybrid vehicles in Malaysia with local expertise in place.
Ownership support has also incidentally been enhanced with the introduction of the Toyota Extend programme in December 2025. Available for selected models, the programme provides eligible customers with extended warranty coverage beyond the standard period, supporting long-term ownership confidence and improved vehicle value retention through authorised Toyota Service Centres nationwide.

Finally, in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year festive festivities, Toyota is to offer a range of promotions across selected models as well. Benefits are valued at up to RM 9,500, with monthly instalments starting from RM 658. Customers can further enjoy affordable maintenance through the Toyota Service Savers programme, with plans starting from RM 33 per month, delivering added peace of mind both during the festive period and beyond.
“Chinese New Year is a time of renewal and togetherness, and for many Malaysians it also involves travelling to be with family,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor. “During the festive period, peace of mind on the road matters even more. It comes from vehicles that are engineered to perform consistently over long journeys and supported by dependable care, so families can travel with confidence and focus on the moments that truly matter.”
