Volvo Updates XC60, EC40 & XC90 SUVs In Malaysia

This trio of updated electrified Volvo SUVs complements the all-new all-electric EX90 in its local lineup.

Volvo Car Malaysia has officially refreshed its entire lineup for model year 2026, following the introduction of the new single-motor EC40 and updated XC60. The Swedish marque’s latest update ensures every model in its local range now features the latest in design, performance and digital technology.

Refreshed Volvo XC60 Now On Sale From RM 328,888

Among the more significant updates this time round is the newly-refreshed Volvo XC60, which now sports a more athletic and elegant look courtesy of a redesigned front grille and updated exterior detailing. The premium mid-sized Scandinavian SUV also gains adaptive air suspension (for a limited time only though) for improved comfort and stability, alongside Volvo’s latest in-car technology suite.

Pricing for the refreshed XC60 starts from RM 328,888 for the B5 AWD mild hybrid, while the T8 AWD plug-in hybrid variant begins from RM 362,888.

Under the hood, the XC60 T8 plug-in hybrid delivers up to 89 km of pure electric range (WLTP), while its combined 462 PS and 709 Nm enable a sports car-rivalling 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds. The XC60 B5 AWD mild hybrid offers a plug-free alternative with 263 PS and 390 Nm, translating to 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 180 km/h.

New Single-Motor Volvo EC40 Priced At RM 248,888

The Volvo EC40, the brand’s first electric-only crossover SUV, is now available with a new single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant, joining the existing twin-motor version. The EC40 Single Motor is offered exclusively in the fully-equipped Ultra trim, priced at RM 248,888, it represents a substantial RM 40,000 less than its all-wheel-drive sibling.

Featuring Volvo’s latest in-house developed 175 kW (238 hp) electric motor, this new configuration enables the EC40 to sprint from 0–100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, while its 70 kWh battery provides up to 488 km (WLTP) of range on a full charge. With fast DC charging, it can be recharged from 10–80% in just 26 minutes.

A new Sand Dune exterior colour inspired by Sweden’s west coast debuts with the EC40, joining Aurora Silver, Onyx Black, and Crystal White in the range.

Volvo XC90 Gains New Aurora Silver Exterior Hue

Despite being launched just this year, the facelifted Volvo XC90 also receives a 2026 model year update with the introduction of a new Aurora Silver exterior finish. This flagship Swedish SUV continues to be available with two powertrains: the T8 plug-in hybrid and B5 mild hybrid.

Both variants come fully equipped in Ultra trim, which includes an 11.2-inch centre display with Volvo’s next-generation UX interface, 12.3-inch driver display, head-up display, Bowers & Wilkins audio system, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, and 360-degree camera.

The PHEV T8 variant is priced at RM 434,888, delivering a combined output of 462 hp and 709 Nm, along with exceptional fuel efficiency rated as low as 1.8 L/100 km. Meanwhile, the mild-hybrid B5, priced at RM 418,888, produces 249 hp and 350 Nm.

Next-Generation Volvo Car UX

Making its debut across all 2026 models is the new Volvo Car UX, a next-generation infotainment interface designed for improved usability and convenience. The system introduces a refined vertical layout with larger touch buttons and adaptive shortcuts that appear based on driving context — for instance, quick access to drive modes at startup or a 360º camera shortcut when parking.

Electrified SUV Range Now Complete

With these 2026 updates, Volvo Car Malaysia now offers a fully refreshed and electrified SUV lineup. The range begins with the EX30 and XC40 B5, followed by the EC40 in both Single and Twin Motor variants. For families, the XC60 and XC90 continue as core models, while the upcoming EX90 stands as the brand’s new flagship fully electric SUV.

Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, said: “With the refreshed XC60 and the addition of the single-motor EC40, we are strengthening our lineup to provide more choices that fit the lifestyles of Malaysian customers. As we move into 2026, our focus remains on delivering the very best of Volvo — cars that combine safety, performance, and sustainability. Looking ahead, we are also preparing for an exciting milestone as we look forward to our first-ever fully electric sedan for Malaysia.”
