Those who book an MG S5 EV at the Malaysia Autoshow will receive a RM 5,000 rebate and a free 7 kW wallbox charger.
Following its initial media preview last month, MG Motor Malaysia has now released further details on the upcoming S5 EV, including estimated pricing and early booking incentives.
The all-electric SUV is currently being showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, with prices expected to start from RM115,000 before registration and insurance. And while the official launch is still pending, MG is nevertheless offering a limited-time early bird campaign for bookings made at the Autoshow from May 9 to 15.
As part of this aforementioned promotion, customers who place a RM 500 booking will receive a RM5,000 rebate off the final retail price. MG is also throwing in a complimentary 7kW Wallbox AC home charger too.
The MG S5 EV will be available in two variants: COM and LUX. The COM variant offers a choice of two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options (49kWh or 62kWh) delivering up to 340 km and 430 km of WLTP-rated range respectively. The LUX variant exclusively features the 62 kWh battery, with a maximum WLTP-rated range of 430 km.
Both variants are to be powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 170 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Notably, the MG S5 EV is currently the only rear-wheel-drive EV in its segment available in the Malaysian market.
Charging capabilities for the MG S5 EV include 7 kW AC charging for both variants, while the LUX variant also supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW, allowing for a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 26 minutes. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality is also included, enabling this EV to power external devices.
Standard features for both variants include LED headlamps with a ‘Racing Flag’ daytime running light design, MG’s signature arch-style LED taillights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with voice control, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and MG’s iSMART connectivity suite.
The LUX variant further adds a range of premium features, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, leather-fabric seats with perforated MG logos, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated leather steering wheel, wireless charging pad, six-speaker audio system, powered tailgate, and a 360-degree surround view camera. Advanced driver assistance features, including automatic high beam, are also part of the LUX package.
Dimensionally, the MG S5 EV measures 4,476 mm in length, 1,849 mm in width, and 1,621 mm in height. Boot capacity stands at 453 litres, expandable to 1,441 litres with the rear seats folded, including additional space beneath the floor.
The MG S5 EV will eventually be offered over here in five exterior colours: Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte.
