Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV Debuts From RM 1,088,888

This first-ever Maybach EV is actually also to be the cheapest brand new double-M offered here.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has certainly kicked off 2025 in grand style, as its first major debut of the year comes in the form of the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV. Taking opulence to new heights beyond the standard EQS SUV launched two years ago, this flagship all-electric SUV from Stuttgart’s finest is currently available from a tax-free price of RM 1,088,888.

Now kicking off discussions here with its looks first, this first-ever Maybach EV has traded the traditional three pointed star-adorned black panel front grille of the EQS SUV with a set of vertical chrome-plated trim strips instead (which some might say lends it an almost “moustachioed” appearance). This is then to be topped off by a full-width front light bar right above it, bridging the Digital Light headlamps that welcomes and bids farewell to the driver with a dazzling light display.

Differentiating this Maybach from the standard EQS down its flank meanwhile comes courtesy of a standard two-tone paint scheme, complemented by a hand-painted filigree pinstripe. The Maybach emblem on the D-pillar and bespoke 21-inch Maybach multi-spoke alloy wheels that is positioned between illuminated running boards add further distinction along its profile, while a full-width LED light bar with a two-part helix design completes the elegant exterior.

Moving on inside, this more opulent variant of EQS SUV still follows on from its standard sibling by featuring Mercedes’ MBUX Hyperscreen with “zero layer” display. This Maybach nevertheless nets a unique deep blue visual appearance on its displays, with it to be complemented by Mercedes-Maybach specific start-up animations and display style on all three of its screens up front.

Rear passengers can enjoy first-class comfort with two 11.6-inch screens mounted on the front seatbacks, as part of the MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment system. The standard executive seats feature ventilation, massage functions, neck and shoulder heating, plus a calf massage, but tick the box for the First Class Rear specification and this will then bring with it a centre console that continues from the front and runs between the rear seats, which itself features climate-controlled cupholders and a shelf for the MBUX rear seat tablet.

Among the other luxury accoutrements with the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV worth highlighting includes for it to feature a 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, as well as ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL Plus with HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air) four-zone climate control system. Also, this luxury e-SUV comes with an automatic driver’s door that opens upon detecting the keyholder 1.5 metres away.

For cabin materials, the SUV features MANUFAKTUR open-pore brown walnut wood trim paired with a matching centre console. Additional wood options include brown open-pore birch and piano lacquer black flowing lines. The Exclusive Nappa leather upholstery comes in espresso brown/balao brown pearl, with macchiato beige/bronze brown pearl available as an alternative. For those seeking ultimate exclusivity, Maybach MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather is also offered in crystal white/silver grey pearl—with all leather sourced through sustainable processing.

Underneath all that luxury, the Maybach EQS 680 SUV boasts an AIRMATIC air suspension with ADS+ adaptive damping that allows for a 25 mm ride height increase when the road to the golf course gets a little bit rocky, for instance. This behemoth of an SUV also thankfully nets standard rear-wheel steering with a 10-degree turning angle, which reduces its turning circle by nearly two metres for greater manoeuvrability.

This luxury SUV further features a unique MAYBACH drive mode, replacing the traditional COMFORT mode to prioritise an ultra-smooth ride for rear passengers. The Driving Assistance Package Plus is standard here as well, bringing with it Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, and Active Blind Spot Assist.

Powering the Maybach EQS 680 SUV is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivering a combined 658 PS and 950 Nm of torque. Its 118 kWh battery provides an impressive WLTP-rated range of 560-608 km, This in turn equates to a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h, while the 118 kWh battery that feeds said motors could yield between 560 – 608 km of range, depending on how lead-footed the chauffeur is.

Just before ending here too, it is perhaps worth reiterating to the T1 demographic of readers that the RM 1.1 million price tag on the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV really just the beginning. Such is as not just will buyers be able to spec the aforementioned First Class Rear specification that converts the middle seat in the rear to an elaborate fixed centre console, but there is also the RM 200,000 Night Series exterior cosmetic package, which brings with it among other things dark metallic chrome elements, rose gold accents in the headlamps and 21-inch seven-spoke alloys adorned with a mass of double M monograms.
