Facelifted BYD Atto 3 Set To Launch With A Slightly Sharper Look
The upcoming refreshed BYD Atto 3 might also net a revised ADAS suite, but unfortunately no powertrain changes.
The now-three-year-old BYD Atto 3 is soon to be facelifted, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) just revealed how this refreshed e-SUV will look like when it eventually launches later this year.
Now starting up front, the facelifted Atto 3 comes featuring a more aggressive visage, courtesy of its new sleeker front bumper that incorporates a pair of fin-like panels on its lower extremities.
The same fin-like treatment meanwhile is to further be mirrored on its redesigned rear bumper, with there to also be a new double dash third brake light (alá Haval H6) found on its now-curved tailgate spoiler.
As for changes down the side here, the facelifted BYD Atto 3 sports a new slimmer silver trim strip along its wheelbase. Its C-pillar accent piece has been revised too, with a black strip running down to the rear better helping this e-SUV achieve the floating-roof aesthetic.
In terms of other non-aesthetic updates on the other hand, there is a new camera to be found on the Atto 3’s revised front bumper. This has hence spurred rumours of a potential wider ADAS upgrade to come with this facelifted e-SUV.
What is however to all but likely remain the same from this refresh is its powertrain. This is especially as the images of this facelifted Atto 3 were submitted by BYD to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in the category of car adjustments, where only updated versions of existing models are approved with powertrain and most of the specs unchanged.
BYD has not officially announced when exactly will it be debuting this facelifted Atto 3 yet, but the MIIT listing is typically the last major step undertaken for an automaker before it begins trial production. So it therefore stands to reason that a potential launch in China by the second quarter seems realistic, with there even to be a non-zero chance that this updated e-SUV might be arriving here by the end of this year too.
The BYD Atto 3 was last updated over here in September last year, with it currently available only in a sole Extended Range variant priced at RM150,430. This e-SUV currently pairs a front-mounted 201 hp electric motor to a 60.48 kWh Blade battery, which in turn is good for 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and a WLTP-rated range of 420 km.
