Customer deliveries of this hot trim of GWM Ora 07 is slated to occur by the end of this month.
GWM Malaysia has recently announced that the Performance variant of its Ora 07 has just rolled off the boat over here, and will soon be ready for customer deliveries by the end of this month.
This recent arrival of this more potent trim of Ora 07 completes the local launch lineup of this particular GWM model, with the other trim of this EV that is currently offered locally being the Long Range Ultra. The Long Range Ultra currently retails for RM 169,800, while the hotter Performance variant costs RM 189,800.
Now differentiating the two variants from the outside can easily be done through the alloy wheels, with the Long Range Ultra riding on 18-inch units with a straight-spoke design, while the Performance variant rocks a slightly larger set of 19-inch rollers with oval spokes. Said sportier trim also nets red brake calipers instead of the standard guise’s black, in addition to Michelin Pilot Sport EV rubber relative to the conventional Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 EV tyres.
Those aforementioned Michelins are to be responsible for putting down to the road the Performance variant’s combined 408 PS and 680 Nm of torque from its motor at each axle. This particular flavour of ORA 07 is claimed to complete the century sprint in a rather swift 4.3 seconds, with it then finally running out of puff at 180 km/h.
As for the Long Range Ultra variant meanwhile, it Hankooks instead will only be required to handle a single front-mounted motor rated at 204 PS and 304 Nm of torque. This comparatively tamer Ora 07 could nevertheless still achieve a decent-enough 0-100 km/h charge in 8.5 seconds, before eventually maxing out at 170 km/h.
In terms of what powers said motors, both variants share the same 83.499 kWh ternary lithium battery pack. The single-motor Long Range Ultra expectedly quotes a longer NEDC range of 640 km on a single charge, while the dual-motor Performance variant claims a slightly lower figure of 550 km on the same test cycle.
DC charging power for both trims of Ora 07 peak at a relatively low 88 kW, but GWM still quotes a reasonable 32 minutes to top up the battery from 30 to 80%. To compensate for this lowly rapid charging power too, the Ora 07 can accept up to 11 kW of AC charging, though the quoted charging time from 0-100% is still to be a lengthy 15 hours.
On the subject of exterior aesthetics, its general Porsche Panamera shape is book-ended by an active shutter front grille and a retractable rear spoiler. A healthy smattering of chrome accents further provides some shiny chic to the outside, while retractable handles on its frameless doors goes some way in helping it achieve its extremely low drag coefficient of just 0.22.
Moving on inside, the admittedly Bugatti Chiron-esque central stack with vertical rotary dials is joined by a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that is interestingly split across three old-style pods. Other amenities featured within both variants of Ora 07 includes a full length panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control (with rear vents), a powered tailgate, electrically adjustable front seats with massaging function and an 11-speaker Harman Infinity sound system.
Standard on both ORA 07 trims is also a vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality of up to 3.3 kW, in addition to the usual comprehensive suite of active safety tech. Brown leather upholstery is standard to the Performance variant, but buyers of the single-motor Long Range variant may upgrade from their standard black items at a cost of RM2,500.
