MG S5 E-SUV Gets A Price Drop By RM 7,000 Across Its Lineup

Prices for this all-electric mid-sized MG SUV now ranges from RM 117,900 to RM 127,900.
Yet another day, yet another EV price drop in Malaysia. And this time it is (once again) from MG, with the once-British-now-Sino automaker announcing that its S5 e-SUV now sees an RM 8,000 reduction from its original launch price.
To put things into perspective, the updated MG S5 price list now stands as follows:
- COM: RM 117,900
- COM Long Range: RM 117,900
- LUX Long Range: RM 127,900

Sweetening the deal further, all variants now come with the Ultimate Ownership Package, which brings additional savings of up to RM10,000. This includes a complimentary 7kW AC wallbox charger or, alternatively, the option to select charging credits.

For those needing a quick refresher on what is admittedly not the most common e-SUV around, all variants of the MG S5 are powered by a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 170 PS and 250 Nm of torque. This setup makes it the only rear-wheel-drive EV in its segment currently available in Malaysia.
Charging capabilities include 7 kW AC charging across all variants, while the Lux Long Range additionally supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW, allowing a 10%–80% top-up in around 26 minutes. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality also comes standard, enabling the S5 to power external devices when needed.

Standard equipment across the range includes LED headlamps with a distinctive ‘Racing Flag’ DRL design, MG’s signature arch-style LED taillights, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with voice control, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and MG’s iSMART connectivity suite.
The Lux variant further ups the ante with 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, leather-fabric seats with perforated MG logos, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated leather steering wheel, wireless charging pad, six-speaker audio system, powered tailgate, and a 360-degree surround view camera. Advanced driver assistance features are also bundled with the Lux package.

Worth highlighting here too is that this particular e-SUV will actually soon be assembled right here in Malaysia, rolling out of EPMB’s CKD facility in Pegoh, Melaka. And if that name rings a bell, that is because it is the very same facility currently assembling cars for GWM, including the Haval H6 HEV.
“This price revision reflects our commitment to make EV ownership more attainable for Malaysians as we prepare for the next phase of MG’s localisation strategy,” said Emory QiFeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia. “With local assembly plans already in motion, we are ensuring that our customers benefit from greater value and flexibility while we expand MG’s presence in Malaysia.
