iCAUR V23 Achieves Full 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Safety Score

The iCAUR V23 is priced at RM 119,800 for the 2WD variant and RM 132,800 for the iWD variant.
Beneath its rugged tough-as-nails looks, the iCAUR V23 is showing that it is no pushover when it comes to safety either. This comes as iCAUR Malaysia recently announced that its fully electric SUV has just achieved a full 5-Star rating under the ASEAN New Car Assessment Programme (ASEAN NCAP), recording an impressive overall score of 91.02 points under the latest 2021–2025 assessment protocol.

Announcing the achievement, Chery Corporate Malaysia Executive Vice President Men Lin Bo said the milestone underscores the brand’s commitment to placing safety at the forefront of its electrification push. “The iCAUR V23 introduces an exciting and dynamic approach to EV mobility that also places vehicle safety at the forefront. This 5-Star ASEAN NCAP achievement reaffirms our commitment to delivering high levels of safety, while also demonstrating our strong support for the Malaysian government through close collaboration with agencies such as MIROS in advancing vehicle safety standards and awareness nationwide,” he said.

Under the comprehensive ASEAN NCAP evaluation, the iCAUR V23 scored 39.71 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 16.67 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP), 17.14 points for Safety Assist Technologies (SATs) and 17.50 points for Motorcyclist Safety (MS). This strong showing not only secured the top rating, but also positions the V23 among the highest-performing vehicles evaluated under the current protocol. Notably, it is also the first fully electric off-road SUV to be assessed by ASEAN NCAP.
A key contributor to this result is the V23’s robust structural design. The SUV is built around a cage-like body structure that utilises 70% high-strength steel, enhancing both crash protection and overall rigidity. This is complemented by a sophisticated Battery Management System (BMS) featuring high-voltage protection and liquid-cooled temperature management, designed to keep the battery pack safe and stable even in the event of a collision.

Safety equipment on the V23 is equally comprehensive. All variants come standard with six airbags and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite. Supporting these systems is a millimetre-wave radar integrated into the vehicle body, enhancing detection accuracy across a wide range of driving environments.
Standard ADAS features include Autonomous Emergency Braking, Front and Rear Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Lane Change Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection, Door Opening Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist and Drive Away Info.

In Malaysia, the iCAUR V23 is offered in two variants: 2WD and iWD. The rear-wheel-drive 2WD version features a rear-mounted electric motor producing 100 kW and 180 Nm, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in 11 seconds and a top speed of 140 km/h. Powering this setup is a 59.9 kWh LFP battery, delivering up to 401 km of NEDC-rated range.
The range-topping iWD variant adds a 55 kW front motor for a combined output of 211 hp and 292 Nm, cutting the century sprint to 7.5 seconds. It also upgrades to a larger 81.8 kWh NMC battery offering up to 501 km of NEDC range, alongside faster DC charging of up to 104 kW, compared to 85 kW for the 2WD. Both variants nevertheless support 6.6 kW AC charging and 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load functionality.
Six exterior colours are available: Off Road Orange, Khaki White, Army Green, Slate Silver, Gravel Grey and Carbon Black. Every iCAUR V23 comes with a seven-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty, and an eight-year/160,000 km warranty for the drive unit and high-voltage components, including a one-to-one battery replacement should state-of-health drop below 70%.
