This optional Sports Performance package can be fitted to any variant of the recently-facelifted Mazda CX-5.
While the Mazda CX-5 was already to be considered among the sharper looking SUVs around, there could nevertheless always be a bit more done to further enhance its sporty vibe. And for those who want to do so right from the factory, the newly introduced Sports Performance package might just be the thing for you then!
Showcased alongside the CX-60 and CX-80 at the Mazda booth during the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS 2024) on what the automaker has dubbed its CX-5 MS Limited Edition, the Sports Performance package essentially just adds a bit of black on to the outside and a bit of suede within this SUV. This optional accessories bundle is currently available for RM 12,000, and can be fitted to any variant of the recently-facelifted CX-5.
Now in delving a little deeper here as to what exactly is included with the Sports Performance package, the visual exterior changes brought to the CX-5 by this bundle includes a gloss black finish for its grille wing, lower bumpers, side mirrors, wheel arch surrounds and rocker panels. Its 19-inch alloy wheels meanwhile net the same black finish, with this package further adding to this SUV a body-coloured rear roof spoiler and MS (for Mazdasports) exhaust tip.
As for the changes within, the Sports Performance package adds a set of MS sports pedals, along with some suede inserts on its door trim and red-stitched steering wheel. The front and rear seats are also to be upholstered in red-stitched suede with the MS initials, while a set of MS floor mats embroidered with the MS initials stitching and a crimson push start button complete the sporty transformation within the CX-5.
In terms of performance, the Sports Performance package unfortunately does not add any more power to these SUVs. It does however bring to under the hood a front strut bar in black with the MS badge, to which Mazda touts ‘adds not only to the vehicle’s aesthetic sophistication but also reinforces its structural stability’.
The Sports Performance package is to be available for booking right now with any CX-5, and deliveries of the first examples optioned with it beginning next year. This accessories bundle is currently backed by Mazda’s 1-year Genuine Accessory Warranty, which is determined by the period of fitment at the time of the new vehicle purchase.
